Find buying committee

Replace each company with the people who best fit your buying committee, best match first.

Find buying committee · Sourcing · Accepts companies · Produces people

Finds the people at each incoming company who best fit your buying committee and continues the workflow with those people, best match first. It turns a company workflow into a people workflow.

When to use it

Use it after a company step when you want the buyers, not just the accounts. For example, take the top recommended companies and find the three people at each who best match the roles on your committee.

If you would rather pick people by job title, seniority or department, use Find people at company instead.

What it does

For each incoming company, the step looks up people there and ranks them by how well they fit the roles in your buying committee. It replaces the company with up to People per company of them. One company can produce several people. The committee is the one you set up in Context studio. See Context: Manage Your Segmentation Models and Segmentations.

Configure it

  • Buying committee: which committee to rank people against. Primary committee is the default. Your other committees are listed by name. Below the list, Edit committees opens Context studio.

  • People per company: how many people to keep per company, from 1 to 5. The default is 3.

  • Skip people: tick what to leave out. The options are Already in CRM (everyone at a company that is in your CRM), Already in leads and Already exported. Already in leads and Already exported start ticked. Already in CRM starts unticked.

Outputs

Each person comes with these fields:

  • Person name, Job title, Department, Sub-department and Company domain.

  • Role change, Role change type, Current role started and Previous employer.

  • Buying committee role: the committee role the person matches. It is only filled in when the person matches a role strongly or closely.

  • Buying committee match: Strong or Close. It is blank when the person does not match a role closely.

  • Buying committee score: how well the person fits the committee's roles. People are ranked by it.

Later steps can use these fields with @-mentions. See Reference earlier steps with @-mentions.

Cost

0.2 credits per person the step finds. A company with no people found costs nothing. See Credits in workflows.

If it fails or finds nothing

  • No committee roles. If the committee does not exist or has no roles, the step finds no people for any company, so those companies stop here, and it charges nothing. Open Context studio to check the committee has roles.

  • No one found. A company with no matching people produces no people, so nothing from it moves on. Untick a Skip people box, or check the committee's roles in Context studio, if too many companies fall away.

  • Not enough credits. Nothing is charged. The workflow pauses and the records show as Blocked in Activity. They carry on once you add credits and resume.

  • This step has no Continue anyway option.

Example

A weekly workflow starts with Recommendations set to Tier 1 and Tier 2. Next comes Find buying committee with Primary committee and People per company set to 3. A Filter then keeps only people whose Buying committee match is Strong, and Send people to CRM creates the contacts.

Gotchas

  • Segmentation is not a self-serve add-on. If it is not on your plan, you can still add this step, but its settings show "Segmentation isn't on your plan yet" and a Contact us button. You cannot publish the workflow until it is turned on.

  • This step works on companies only. Everything after it works on people, so company-only steps are not offered downstream. See Companies vs people in a workflow.

  • A person with only a weak match can still be returned. Their role and match are blank, but they still have a score.
