If you’re looking to identify companies based on the technologies they use on their websites, the Technologies filter in Ocean.io is exactly what you need.
This filter allows you to perform a broad and powerful search to uncover businesses using specific tools or platforms. Whether you’re targeting companies using a certain CMS, analytics tool, or eCommerce platform, this feature helps you refine your outreach and find your best-fit prospects faster.
Ocean.io detects web technologies directly from company websites, by analyzing the scripts and tags present on their pages. This means you can filter for companies using tools like:
CMS systems (e.g., WordPress, Drupal, Webflow)
eCommerce platforms (e.g., Shopify, Magento, WooCommerce)
Analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Hotjar, Segment)
Programming languages or frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, PHP)
Marketing automation tools (e.g., HubSpot, Mailchimp, Marketo)
Live chat systems (e.g., Intercom, Zendesk Chat, Drift)
...and many more.
You can combine these filters with others - like company size, industry, or location - to build highly targeted prospect lists.
🔀 Combining Multiple Technologies
When selecting more than one technology in the Technologies filter, you can choose how Ocean.io should match results:
Any of → Uses OR logic and returns companies using at least one of the selected technologies.
All of → Uses AND logic and returns only companies using all selected technologies.
Example:
If you select Shopify and Hotjar:
Any of → Companies using Shopify, Hotjar, or both
All of → Only companies using both Shopify and Hotjar
You can switch between these options directly at the top of the Technologies filter depending on how broad or narrow you want your search to be.
Additionally, CRM filters are available as paid add-ons, allowing users to further customize their Ocean.io experience based on specific needs.
🧭 Common Use Cases
Here are a few ways sales, marketing, and partnership teams use this filter:
Sales prospecting: Find companies using technologies that integrate with your own product or service.
Example: If you sell a Shopify app, filter for companies using Shopify.Competitor analysis: Identify which companies are using competing technologies to understand market share and trends.
Partnership development: Discover agencies or service providers who work with a specific tech stack (e.g., WordPress developers using HubSpot).
Market segmentation: Build segmented outreach lists based on tech usage - for instance, reaching out to companies using React for front-end projects.
⚠️ Important Note on Detection
Because our detection method relies on scripts found directly on company websites, only web-based technologies can be identified. Systems that do not run client-side - like CRM, ERP, or POS software - are not detectable and therefore won’t appear in our database. This means that backend-only tools, which are not exposed on the website frontend, cannot be identified.
🧩 Missing a Technology?
We’re continuously expanding our database of detectable web technologies.
