The Headquarter Location filter helps you focus your search on specific geographic areas; from entire regions down to individual cities, so you can target companies that match your market or territory.
๐ก Tip: Each company in our database is linked to a single headquarter location. If you want to find companies with any type of office in your chosen area, try using the Other locations filter instead.
Search by Location Type
You can search for companies by several types of location:
Countries โ e.g., Germany, France, or the United States
Country groupings โ predefined regional clusters such as DACH or Benelux
Regions โ larger areas within a country, such as California or รle-de-France
Municipalities โ smaller administrative areas within a region
Cities โ specific urban locations, such as Amsterdam or Copenhagen
Country Groupings
Ocean.io includes several ready-made regional groupings you can use for faster filtering:
DACH โ Germany, Austria, Switzerland
UKI โ United Kingdom and Ireland
Nordics โ Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden
Benelux โ Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg
Europe โ All European countries
North America โ United States and Canada
APAC โ Asia-Pacific region, including countries such as Australia, Japan, Singapore, and others
These groupings make it easy to target broad areas without needing to select each country individually.
Filter by Map Area
In addition to using the list of predefined options, you can also filter directly on a map.
When you select the Map area option, a map will open that allows you to:
Zoom in to your area of interest
Pick a central point
Zoom in- or out with your mouse to set a radius around your search area
This is useful when you want to find companies within a certain distance from a city, office, or regional hub; for example, โwithin 50 km of Berlin.โ
When to Use This Filter
Use the Headquarter Location filter to:
Focus on companies within your assigned sales region or territory
Build regional prospect lists for targeted outreach
Identify nearby companies for in-person meetings or events
Combine with other filters, such as Size (employees) or Industry, for more precise segmentation
This filter gives you flexibility to explore companies anywhere in the world, whether you want to cast a wide regional net or zoom in on a specific city block.
Excluding Locations
You can also refine your results by excluding specific locations.
If you hover over the right side of any location youโve added in the filter, youโll see an โExcludeโ option in red. This lets you remove countries, regions, or cities from your search.
For example, you can:
Include Europe
Exclude Germany
โ to focus on European companies outside Germany
This is especially useful when you want to avoid oversaturated markets, remove territories you already cover, or narrow your focus to more relevant regions.
๐ก Tip: Exclusions work the same way in the Headquarter Location filter as they do in other location-based filters, giving you full control over both what you include and what you remove.
