Companies from segment · Sourcing · Produces companies
Pulls companies from a saved segment of your total addressable market and feeds them into the workflow.
When to use it
Use it when you've already built a segmentation in Ocean and want a workflow to work through that market — for example, source your top segment each week and send new accounts to your CRM.
What it does
The step reads a segment and surfaces the companies in its addressable market. It always enrolls incrementally — regardless of the Net new setting below, it skips companies this step already brought in on an earlier run, so a weekly schedule works steadily through the market instead of re-processing the same accounts. A run that finds no new companies is normal once the segment is exhausted — it's not an error.
Configure it
Segmentation — the saved segmentation to draw from. The step pins to this specific segmentation, so it keeps working even if your workspace's active segmentation changes later.
Segment — which segment within it. You can also choose Previously found segment to route each incoming record to whichever segment an earlier Segment fit step already assigned it — this only works mid-workflow, after a Segment fit step, not as the first step.
Filters — optional narrowing filters (the same company filters as Company search, minus lookalike) to tighten the pull.
Number of companies — how many companies to bring in per run.
Net new — leave on to also skip companies already in a lead list, export, or CRM; turn off to include those. Either way, this step never repeats a company it already brought in itself — see the note above.
Cost
0.2 credits per company result. See Credits in workflows.
Gotchas
The segmentation must be built and ready, with a lead-scoring model, before this step can run. Segmentation is an early-access feature — if you don't see it, ask your admin to enable it under Settings → Labs. See What is Segmentation? and Using Segmentation.
Because enrollment is incremental, an empty run just means there's nothing new — check the segment size if you expected more.
This step's own-run dedupe can't be turned off, unlike Company search, where Net new controls both. If you need this step to re-enroll a company it already brought in, there's currently no toggle for that.
