There are two ways to go about "bookmarking" the results you see in Ocean.io. You can either save the tab you're working on, or adding specific companies and contacts as leads.
In short; leads are static, so you save particular companies and contacts for your outreach. Tabs are dynamic, and are used to save the search you're actively working on, so you can continue where you left off next time you log in.
Leads
Saved leads are static. Once they're saved, you can always find them in your "My/All Leads" section, and no other companies or contacts than the ones you've added.

The benefit of saving leads is that you slowly build your target lists over time and combine leads from different searches, before you can export them for free to an external software of your choice.
A second benefit is that you can prevent working on the same companies as your colleagues, in case you're both making the initial outreach by browsing through the results on Ocean.io before exporting data. Each company or contact you saved as lead will clearly have a label and/or status to distinguish them from the rest.
Items will only be removed from your leads overview if they are removed from Ocean's database. For instance, if a company ceases to exist, or if a contact becomes unemployed. Items can only be saved as a lead by you - it is never done automatically by Ocean without your knowledge.
Tabs
Tabs give you dynamic results, as opposed to Leads. You only save the filters you were using in the search. If new companies enter our database, or if their details (like size) get updated, they might appear or disappear from the results, depending on your filters.
Are you in the middle of going through the search results, but another task requires your attention? Save your tab, and you can jump back into the search with the same filters you initially used.
As long as your Ocean.io tab stays open, it will also remember your scroll position.
