Find Companies and Contacts in Known Accounts

Ocean.io allows you to find both companies and contacts similar to the ones you already know. By uploading a list of reference companies or individual contacts, you can discover lookalike accounts, identify the right people, and enrich your workflows.

If you already have a list of companies or contacts you want to target, Ocean.io makes it easy to find the right contacts from those organizations.

For Companies

You can either enrich existing company data or search for new contacts within specific companies. To upload a list of companies, use the Company Lookup filter.

Tip: Make sure to switch to “People” or “Companies” tab to either see the companies or the contacts who work in those companies.

Ways to Add Companies to Your Search

There are three ways to look up contacts from specific companies:

  1. Add companies one by one

  2. Copy and paste a batch of domains

  3. Upload a CSV file with domains

1. Add Companies One by One

  • Open the Company lookup filter.

  • Enter a company name or domain.

  • Select the correct company from the suggestions to add it to your search.

  • Repeat this process for any additional companies you want to include.

You can include or exclude companies individually using the Include or Exclude option next to each company.

2. Copy and Paste a Batch

In the Company lookup filter, you can paste a list of company domains from a spreadsheet or text editor (for example, Google Sheets).

  • Domains can be comma-separated or placed on separate lines.

  • Press Enter to add them to the search.

You can exclude companies in bulk by clicking the Exclude button next to them. This removes all selected companies from your search results at once.

3. Upload a CSV File (Recommended for Large Lists)

For larger company lists, you can upload a CSV file directly into the Company lookup filter.

  1. Open the Company lookup filter

  2. Click Upload CSV.

  3. Make sure your file includes headers, and that one of them is titled “Domain” — this is the column Ocean.io uses to find matching companies.

  4. Upload your file and click Apply.

Once processed, Ocean.io will automatically identify the companies and show all related contacts in your search results.

Note: You can upload up to 10,000 companies at a time in a CSV or batch upload.

For Individual Contacts

You can also upload contacts to enrich them with missing data or discover additional details:

  • Paste LinkedIn profile URLs of people you already know.

  • Batch uploads allow up to 10,000 contacts at a time, simply copy all URL links in one go and paste them into the Person lookup filter.

Simply copy and paste the LinkedIn URLs into the Person lookup filter.

Ocean.io automatically avoids duplicates if the same LinkedIn URL appears more than once.

What You Can Do with Person Lookup

  • This enables you to:

    • Find contact emails or phone numbers

    • Discover the companies the contacts work at

    • Enrich existing contacts with additional insights

Just like companies, you can include or exclude individual contacts, and you can also include or exclude multiple contacts at once in batch using the Exclude option in the Person lookup filter, the same way you do with companies.

Tip: Make sure to switch to “People” or “Companies” to either see the companies the contacts work in or enrich the contacts themselves.

Note: When using the Company or Person Lookup filter, you can add up to 10,000 items in the search bar at once.

Companies / People Upload Restrictions

  • CSV uploads can return data for the specific companies or people listed in the file.

  • CSV uploads cannot initiate a lookalike search.

  • Lookalike searches must be based on manually selected references (up to 10 companies or contacts).

Next Steps

Once your companies are loaded, you can:

  • Apply additional filters (like Job title or Seniority) to find the exact contacts you need.

  • Save your filtered results as lead for later outreach or export.

💡 Tip: Always use domains instead of company names when pasting or uploading data, domains are the most reliable way to match companies accurately in Ocean.io.
