The Company Lookup filter allows you to find specific companies by name or domain.
How It Works
Type a company name or domain into the filter and Ocean.io will suggest matching companies. Select one from the list or press Enter to search immediately.
When applied:
In a Company search: Ocean shows only the companies you've added
In a People search: Ocean shows all contacts working at those companies
💡 Tip: Switch between the "Companies" and "People" tabs to toggle between seeing the companies themselves or the contacts who work there.
Ways to Add Companies
1. One by One
Open the Company Lookup filter
Type a company name or domain and select it from the suggestions
Repeat for additional companies
💡 When adding a company you have two options:
Press Enter to include the company in your search
Click Exclude to exclude the company from your search
2. Paste a Batch of Domains
Copy a list of domains from a spreadsheet (Excel or Google Sheets), text editor, or CSV column
Paste them into the Company Lookup filter, no need to reformat or separate them, Ocean.io will recognize the standard formatting automatically
⚠️Note: The Company Lookup filter supports a maximum of 10,000 companies at a time. This applies across all methods, whether you add them one by one, paste a batch, or upload a CSV.
💡 When adding your batch you have two options:
Press Enter to include all companies in your search
Click Exclude to exclude all companies from your search
3. Upload a CSV File ⭐ Recommended for Large Lists
Open the Company Lookup filter
Click Upload CSV
Make sure your file has a column with the header "Domain"
Upload and click Apply
Ocean.io will automatically match the companies
💡 Note: Always use domain URLs instead of company names. Many companies share similar or identical names but have unique website URLs, using the domain ensures Ocean.io matches the exact company you're looking for every time.
⚠️ Your Upload is Not Saved Automatically
Your uploaded list stays available as long as you keep the tab open. However, we recommend saving your search using the Save option, that way you can reload it anytime with all your filters intact, without having to re-upload your list again.
Restrictions & Credits
CSV uploads return data only for the specific companies in your file
Company Lookup cannot initiate a lookalike search, regardless of whether you add companies one by one, via batch paste, or CSV upload. To run a lookalike search, use the Company Lookalikes filter instead (up to 10 reference domains)
Adding companies to the filter is free
Loading a row costs 0.2 credits. Once loaded, you can export it or save it as a lead for free
💡 For full details on how credits work across the platform, see Credits Explained.
When to Use This Filter
The Company Lookup filter is particularly useful when you want to:
Find people within companies you already know or already work with. To do this, switch to the "People" tab at the top of your search results, this will show all contacts working at the companies you've added instead of the companies themselves.
Enrich your CRM data by uploading a list of existing company domains, retrieving updated Ocean data (such as company details, industry information, or employee data), and reimporting it into your CRM.
Analyze or segment existing accounts by combining your company list with other Ocean filters, such as Funding, Department Size, or Industry Tags.
Tips
Don't know the full domain? Type a partial name, Ocean.io will suggest the closest matches
Combine Company Lookup with filters like Job Title, Seniority, or Department to pinpoint exactly the right people
Your CSV only needs the Domain column, all other columns are ignored automatically
Export enriched data as a CSV to reimport into your CRM or data management platform
