Company Lookup Filter

Find specific companies, or people working in specific companies.

The Company Lookup filter allows you to find specific companies by name or domain.

It’s a quick and precise way to focus your search on one or more known companies, whether you are exploring company information, enriching CRM data, or finding people who work there.

⚠️ Note
This feature is not available during the trial period. It is only accessible on paid plans.

How It Works

You can use the Company Lookup filter by typing either a company name or a domain (partially or in full). As you type, Ocean will display a list of suggestions based on what you enter.

  • You can select a company directly from the suggestions to add it to your filter.

  • Or you can press Enter to perform the search immediately using your input.

When applied:

  • In a Company search, Ocean will display only the company or companies you’ve added to this filter.

  • In a People search, it will show all people who match your selected filters and work at those companies.

Adding Multiple Companies

You can add multiple companies to the filter in two ways:

  1. Paste a list of domains

  • Enter a list of company domains separated by commas (for example: example.com, ocean.io, acme.org).

  • Ocean will recognize each domain and match it to the correct company profiles.

  1. Upload a CSV file

  • Click on the Upload CSV option to import a larger list of companies.

  • Your CSV file must include a column with the header “Domain”.

  • Each row in that column should contain a company domain (for example: example.com).

  • Any other columns in your file will be ignored automatically.

  • You can upload up to 10,000 companies per import. Ensure your file meets the requirements to avoid errors during the upload process.

This makes it easy to look up long lists of companies in one step, without having to add them manually.

When to Use This Filter

The Company Lookup filter is particularly useful when you want to:

  • Find people within companies you already know or already work with. For this case, ensure you flip your search to view "People" instead.

  • Enrich your CRM data by uploading a list of existing company domains, retrieving updated Ocean data (such as company details, industry information, or employee data), and reimporting it into your CRM.

  • Analyze or segment existing accounts by combining your company list with other Ocean filters, such as Funding, Department Size, or Industry Tags.

Tips

  • If you only know part of a company name or domain, you can still type it — Ocean will suggest the closest matches.

  • Combine Company Lookup with People filters like job title, seniority, or department to identify key contacts at your selected companies.

  • When enriching CRM data, make sure your uploaded CSV has one clearly labeled column called Domain. Any additional information in your file will be ignored.

  • You can easily export the enriched data from Ocean as a CSV file for reuploading into your CRM or data management platform.

  • To find similar companies, use the Company Lookalikes filter. Paste up to 10 reference company domains into this filter to generate lookalike companies.

The Company Lookup filter is an essential tool for targeted account searches, CRM enrichment, and finding the right contacts within the companies that matter most to you.

⚠️ Note

While uploading items is free. However, for new plans and packages, you will need to spend 0.2 credits per item if you choose to:

  • Export the item

  • Add it as a lead

  • Load/reveal the next rows

If you load/reveal a row first, you won’t need extra credits later to export or add it as a lead.
