Industries (Third Party) Filter

Find companies based on the industry listed in third party data.

The Industries (third party) filter helps you find companies based on the industry they have listed in various sources on the internet.

It’s useful if you want to stay consistent with industries that are generically used across different external sources on the internet.

How It Works

When companies create different (social media) pages online, they often manually select an industry from a predefined list. This filter uses that information to find companies attributed specific industries online by third parties.

Unlike Ocean’s Industry Tag filter, which is powered by AI and automatically analyzes company websites and descriptions, the Industries filter of third parties relies on manual input. Because of that, it can sometimes be less accurate or out of date if companies haven’t updated their profiles.

When to Use This Filter

Use the Industries (third party) filter when you want to:

  • Match your searches to General industry structure.

  • Keep consistency with other workflows or campaigns.

  • Compare third party human-assigned industries with Ocean’s AI-based Industry Tags.

Tips

  • Choose this filter if you prefer the broader, standard generic categories.

  • For more accurate targeting, combine it with Industries (Ocean.io) filter or Lookalike filters to capture what companies actually do.

  • Remember that third-party industry data is self-reported and may not always reflect the company’s current focus.
