There are more than 10,000 available topics to choose from. You can find the list on Bombora’s website by scrolling to the bottom and clicking on “Full Topics List”.
Is the topic you’re looking for not on there? Then it’s possible to request a completely new topic to be added to the database. Contact your CS manager, who will pass your request on to Bombora.
Please note:
Submitted topics are not guaranteed to be added to the taxonomy
On average 4 out of 10 topics are denied
Once your new topic request is approved by Bombora, this process can take anywhere from 3-9 months before the data is added to the database. How long this takes, depends on the topic. Brand names are faster than complex topics.
Topic request steps
1. Topic suggestion submitted
A topic is a B2B concept or company that can be defined in 1-2 sentences.
2. Topic suggestion being vetted
Your topic request is sent to Bombora for evaluation. Examples of a reason why your topic request could be denied are:
The topic is already in the current taxonomy
The topic is too broad
The topic is too granular
The topic is too similar to an existing topic
No definition was provided
The topic is not B2B related
3. Topic accumulating training data
Now Bombora will use training content to train their topic classification engine. If it is not able to collect enough quality training data for a topic, it will not be activated.
4. Topic performance testing
The topic is tested on their classification engine's ability to correctly classify it. Topics that are not able to be reliably classified will not be activated.
5. Waiting for the taxonomy model update
The new taxonomy is finalized and assigned a deployment date. Once the deployment date is reached, the new topics begin building a baseline.
6. Topic building a baseline
Over 15 weeks, the updated model begins to build a baseline of interest for the new topics.
7. Topic active
Topic is active and available for use in Ocean.io
