Intent Data FAQ
Updated over a week ago

What is a “Surge”?

A surge is when a company exhibits an increased level of research activity or content consumption compared to its historical baseline. Companies 'surging' on certain topics are strong indicators of purchase intent or interest in certain products or services.

What is your source of the intent data?

Our intent data is provided by Bombora, the market leader of intent data. Their data is based on a proprietary data co-operative of 5,000+ B2B websites of publishers, marketers, agencies, technology providers, research and event firms. Examples are Bloomberg, Business Insider, Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, and many more.

How do you know which company is showing intent?

Data Co-op members provide consent-based brand-anonymous data including unique cookie IDs, IP address, page URL and referrer URL, browser type, operating system, browser language, and engagement data such as dwell time, scroll velocity, scroll depth and time between scrolls.

How often is the intent data updated?

Every Tuesday, we add the latest intent data for companies in our database to the platform.

Is your intent based on keywords?

No, our intent data is not based on keywords captured from online content. Through deep learning and natural language processing models, topics are assigned to content pieces online. That’s why an intent topic describes the nature of the online content that a person consumes, which makes it so much more powerful in its accuracy and coverage in comparison to other tools on the market.

Is intent data GDPR compliant?

Yes, it is 100% GDPR compliant. Direct relationships with Data Co-op contributors ensure that Bombora’s Intent data is collected in a privacy-compliant consent-based manner. All personal data, including IP address, is collected only at the business level and not at the individual level.
