Credit Usage & Breakdown
Shows how many credits you’ve used and how many are left.
The Usage chart shows how your organization's credits have been spent. The total number of credits used in the selected period appears next to the Usage title, for example 6,713.268 used.
Choose a time period
Use the dropdown in the top-right corner to pick the period you want to review. By default, it shows This billing period. The chart displays usage per month, so you can spot peaks at a glance. Hover over any bar to see the exact number of credits used and a day-by-day breakdown.
Break down your usage
Use the tabs above the chart to change how your usage is grouped. Each tab splits the bars into colored segments so you can compare categories.
Action: Shows what the credits were spent on, such as loading search results, revealing verified emails, revealing phone numbers, or running workflow steps. Use this to understand which activities use the most credits.
Source: Shows where the usage came from, such as the Ocean.io platform, the API, or MCP (AI assistants like Claude or Cursor). This is useful if your team uses Ocean.io in several places.
User: Shows how many credits each team member used on the platform. This helps admins track individual activity and decide whether to set per-user credit limits.
API token: Shows usage per API token. If you use several tokens for different integrations or team members, this shows which one is using the most credits.
API endpoint: Shows usage per API endpoint, such as Enrich Company, Search People, or Reveal Emails. This helps developers see which API calls cost the most.
Export your usage data
Click Export to download your usage data as a CSV file, including the daily breakdown. This is useful for internal reporting, sharing with your finance team, or reviewing usage in a spreadsheet.
💡 Tip: If you notice an unexpected spike, switch between the Action, Source, and User tabs to find out what caused it: which activity, which surface, and who.
24-Hour Rate Limit
The 24-Hour Rate Limit shows the maximum number of API actions (like searches or contact pulls via the API) you can perform in a single day.
If you reach the limit, API requests will be temporarily blocked until the next day when it resets.
You can also upgrade your plan to increase your daily API limit.
Note: This 24-hour limit applies only to API usage and is designed to prevent system overload. It does not affect your total credits, but it does limit how many API calls you can make in a day.
API rate limits control how many requests you can make to the API in a set period to keep the system stable.
Default limit: 1,000 actions per day (for standard plans)
How it works: Each API call counts as one action. If you exceed the limit, additional requests will be blocked until the limit resets.
Where to check: Managers can view their API rate limit in Usage → 24-Hour Rate Limit.
Response headers: When a rate limit is surpassed, the API will include the following headers in the response::
X-RateLimit-Limit– maximum requests in the current windowRetry-After– seconds to wait before sending another request
Overview of Credits
This table lists every batch of credits added to your account. For each batch, it shows where the credits came from, how many you received, how many are left, and when they expire.
Received from: How the credits were added to your account:
Subscription: Credits included in your paid plan.
Coupon: Credits added by redeeming a coupon code on your Billing page.
Free: Bonus credits, for example for completing onboarding steps.
Remaining credits: How many credits from that batch you still have, out of the total received. For example, 140 / 1,000 means 140 of the original 1,000 credits are still available.
Received at: The date the credits were added to your account.
Valid until: The date the credits expire. Any unused credits from that batch can no longer be used after this date. A dash (–) means the batch has no expiry date.
Expired credits: Batches that have passed their expiry date are marked with an Expired label and shown in grey. They stay in the table for reference, but their remaining credits can no longer be used.
The newest batches appear at the top. If you have more than 10 entries, use the arrows at the bottom of the table to move between pages.
💡 Tip: Check the Valid until column regularly so you can use credits that are about to expire first.
Note: Only managers can see the Usage tab.
