The Phone Finder in Ocean.io helps you uncover direct phone numbers for contacts in your search, making it easier to reach the right people faster.
Ocean.io searches across a cascade of trusted data providers to find the most accurate phone number available for each contact.
Finding Phone Numbers
There are two ways to find phone numbers in Ocean.io: individually or in bulk.
Find Phone Numbers Individually
Click the Access phone button in the Phone column next to a contact, or use the button in the quickview.
Ocean.io will search through multiple data providers to locate a direct phone number associated with that contact.
When the process is complete, the result will appear in the Quick actions column, the Phone column, and the Quickview.
Find Phone Numbers in Bulk
Select contacts
In the Results tab, click the checkbox at the top of the list, next to the Score column header, to select all items currently visible on the page.
You can also choose to select a specific number of items at once.
Use bulk selection options
Select all items in your search results
Select a specific number of items (e.g., “Select first 500 results”)
Clear all selections
Open the action bar
After selecting at least one contact, the action bar will appear at the top of the Results tab.
Click “Enrich”
Choose whether you want to enrich these contacts with emails, phone numbers, or both.
Ocean.io will begin searching for the selected phone numbers.
⚠️ The enrichment process may take a few moments depending on the number of contacts selected.
If you select more contacts in your search than you've loaded so far, you might have to pay 0.2 credits per unloaded result. You can see the details of the price in the pop-up.
When it is done, you will receive a notification with a link to view all processed contacts and their results.
Any contact that has already been successfully enriched with a phone number in the past within your workspace, will not be charged again for their phone number, making it safe to include them in bulk selections.
Phone Number Statuses
After the phone search is complete, Ocean.io will display one of the following statuses:
Access phone
You have not started the phone number search for this contact yet.
Phone number found
A direct phone number has been successfully found for the contact.
Cost: 10 credits per phone number found
No phone number found
No direct phone number could be located for this contact.
Cost: No credits are charged when a phone number is not found
Credit Usage for Phone Numbers
Ocean.io only charges credits when a phone number is successfully found.
10 credits are deducted for each phone number found
0 credits are deducted if no phone number is found
This ensures you only pay for usable results.
Filtering for Direct Phones Found
Once you’ve enriched direct phones in your account, you can use the Verified filter to view only those contacts whose direct phone number have been found.
To filter for verified emails:
Go to your People search.
Open the Filters panel on the left-hand side.
Open the Phone status filter and enable only Verified phone number
This filter only applies to direct phone numbers that you’ve already uncovered and verified within your own account.
Using this filter is the best way to prepare clean, high-quality data before exporting your contacts.
How the Phone Finder Works
Behind the scenes, the Phone Finder uses a cascade of multiple high quality data providers to search for direct phone numbers tied to each contact.
By querying providers sequentially and selecting the best available result, Ocean.io maximizes coverage while maintaining accuracy and only charges you when a number is actually found.
