The Department Size Filter helps you target companies based on the size of specific departments that are most relevant to your sales or marketing strategy.
With this filter, you can focus on organizations where certain teams are large enough or small enough to fit your ideal customer profile.
What It Does
This filter allows you to:
Select one or more departments (for example: Marketing, Sales, IT, Finance, Engineering, or HR).
Specify a minimum and maximum number of employees in those departments.
Ocean.io will then include only companies whose selected department or departments fall within the size range you have defined.
How It Works
The filter applies to the entire company, not just the subset of employees that meet your other filters.
It looks at how many employees Ocean.io has data on for that department across the whole organization, not within any narrower filters you have already applied (such as location or seniority).
For example:
If you set “Marketing department: minimum 20, maximum 100,” you will see companies where Ocean.io knows of between 20 and 100 marketing employees in total.
Even if you have filtered to “Marketing Managers in the UK,” the department size still reflects the company’s global marketing headcount.
Why Use It
The Department Size Filter helps you:
Focus on companies that are mature enough to have established teams in key areas.
Identify scaling businesses where departments are beginning to grow.
Refine your ideal customer profile based on team composition, not just total company size.
