Ocean.io Chat (Beta)

Ask Ocean a question. Get an answer, not a filter panel.

💬 Meet the Ocean Chat (Beta)

The Ocean Chat turns "find me the right companies" into an actual conversation. No dropdowns, no dashboards, no guessing which filter combination will work. Just tell it what you're looking for, in plain English:

  • "Find high-growth SaaS companies in the Nordics"

  • "Show me decision makers at this account"

  • "Is now a good time to reach out to acme.com?"

  • "Which of our customers does this prospect look most like?"

Every answer is grounded in your data, your CRM, your segments, your closed-won deals, not generic market guesses.

✨ What it can do

Find the right companies and people
Describe your target in plain English, industry, size, location, technology, growth, funding, and Chat builds the search for you.

Find companies that look like ones you already like
Point Chat at a company (or a set of companies) you admire, and it finds others that resemble them, either a specific domain you name, or the members of one of your own segments.

💬 "Find companies similar to salesforce.com"
💬 "Show me lookalikes of my best-performing segment"

Understand any account in seconds
Just enter a domain: 💬 "Tell me about acme.com"

Get what the company does, segment fit, key contacts, CRM status, similar closed-won customers, deal history, and a suggested angle, instantly.

Tip: domains produce more accurate results than company names.

Tell you when to reach out
Chat checks real, first-party timing signals, no news scraping, and tells you plainly which ones fired: a new leader recently starting (external hire or internal promotion), the team growing in Sales, R&D, Engineering, or Product over roughly the last 6 months, or a funding round within roughly the last 18 months.

💬 "Why should I reach out to acme.com now?"
💬 "Who recently joined the leadership team at acme.com?"

If nothing fired, Chat says so plainly and suggests leading on fit instead, it will never invent urgency just to give you a reason to act.

Show you who you're likely to win
Ask which of your closed-won customers a prospect resembles most, even a brand-new company you've never looked at. This is the strongest signal of fit there is: proof from who you actually win, not just who looks similar on paper.

💬 "Which of our customers are similar to acme.com?"
💬 "Compare datadog.com to our top closed-won customers"

Score a list of leads in one shot
Paste a batch of domains and get each one scored against your ideal customer profile, so you know exactly who to prioritize first.

💬 "Score these leads: acme.com, globex.com, initech.com"
💬 "Which of these domains is the best fit for us?"

Spot recent hires and promotions
Ask who recently joined a company's leadership (or any team) and whether they came from outside or moved up internally, a classic signal that timing is right.

Find people and decision-makers
Search contacts by job title, seniority, department, skills, location, or company attributes, or paste a LinkedIn profile URL directly.

💬 "VPs of Sales at growth-stage SaaS companies in DACH"
💬 "Marketing leaders in the Nordics with HubSpot experience"

Refine your pipeline and segments
Ask about performance:

💬 "What's my best-performing segment?" (ranks by win rate by default, or by deal value / time-to-close)

If a segment has too few closed deals, Chat says "insufficient data" instead of a misleading percentage.

Combine segment fit with CRM state to prioritize:

💬 "Show untouched high-fit accounts in my top segment" (in CRM, no open deal)
💬 "Which high-fit accounts haven't I touched in 90 days?" (stale)
💬 "Show me high-fit companies not yet in our CRM" (net-new)
💬 "Why are we losing deals in the manufacturing segment?"
💬 "What should the team work on this week?"

Just built a new segment? Chat has a free mode to help you split, merge, drop, or rename segments before you save.

Size your market
💬 "How big is our addressable market across our top segments?"

Chat totals ICP-segmented account counts from Ocean's database, and is careful to distinguish this from generic third-party market-size estimates.

Write outreach that's actually grounded
Generate cold emails, LinkedIn messages, and follow-ups using your real customer proof points, then refine conversationally:

💬 "make it shorter" · "more casual" · "sharpen the hook" · "rewrite for LinkedIn" · "focus on hiring pain"

Send results wherever you need them
Export to CSV, push straight into HubSpot, Pipedrive, or Salesforce, or send to Clay, Zapier, or your sequencer via webhook.

Answer product questions
Chat can also answer "how do I…" questions about Ocean itself, searching the help center and answering only from real article content, no invented steps.

💬 "How do I upload an exclusion list?"
💬 "What are the export limits?"

🎯 Why it’s different

Most tools help you find data. The Ocean Chat helps you understand what matters.

Because it’s connected to your ICP, segments, and CRM, it can go beyond surface-level results and focus on what actually drives revenue.

That means you can:

  • find companies that look like your best customers

  • understand why accounts are a fit (or not)

  • uncover patterns across your wins and losses

  • identify high-fit opportunities you’re not actively targeting

It’s not just search, it’s contextual intelligence for your go-to-market motion.

⚙️ How it works behind the scenes

Chat is more than just a conversational interface. Under the hood, it translates your natural-language requests into structured searches across:

  • Ocean company data

  • Contact data

  • Segmentation models

  • CRM integrations

  • Deal history

  • Hiring signals

  • Technology signals

  • Skills and seniority data

For example, a prompt like 💬 "Find growth-stage SaaS companies in DACH with HubSpot and RevOps leaders" automatically becomes:

  • Industry filters

  • Geographic filters

  • Employee range filters

  • Technology detection

  • Role matching

  • Seniority filtering

  • Segment scoring

Chat then ranks the results by relevance and fit, so you get a prioritized list, not just a raw match.

🧠 Powered by your context

The more Ocean knows about your business, the smarter the chat becomes.

When your context is set up, the chat understands:

  • your ideal customer profile (ICP)

  • your best customers and closed-won deals

  • the segments you focus on

  • your target industries and regions

This allows it to tailor every answer to your actual revenue motion, not a generic market view.

Without context, the chat still works. With context, it becomes significantly more powerful.

🚀 Built for speed, designed for depth

Ocean Chat removes the friction between question and insight, without limiting the complexity of what you can explore.

Whether you’re building a precise ICP, exploring new markets, or generating highly targeted company lists, you simply describe what you need in natural language and refine as you go.

No filter building.
No manual segmentation setup.
No switching between tools.

Just ask, explore, iterate, and move from idea to actionable results in seconds.

It’s designed for teams who want to move faster, without sacrificing precision, control, or depth in their search.

🔗 Getting started

The more Ocean knows about your business, the smarter every answer becomes, and there are two things Chat can work together with, neither of which is required.

If you connect your CRM with our bi-directional integration, Chat can read directly from your CRM data (deals, pipeline stage, existing accounts) to make its answers more accurate, so recommendations and prioritization reflect what's actually happening in your pipeline, not just general fit.

If you've already set up Segmentation, Chat can use that too, drawing on your real customer patterns and segments directly, rather than working from scratch.

Neither is required, Chat works well on its own, it's just noticeably better when it can plug into either or both.

Chat also never lets a search dead-end. If something doesn't match exactly, it finds the closest relevant results and keeps you moving instead of returning nothing. And if a filter can't be applied cleanly, Chat softens or adjusts it automatically, explaining what it changed, right in its response, so you're never left guessing.

🧪 A quick note on beta

The Ocean Chat is still evolving.

You may occasionally see:

  • search refinement during queries

  • evolving response formats

  • improvements and new capabilities being released regularly

We’re actively improving accuracy, speed, and depth based on real usage.
