Automatic Top-up keeps your credit balance from running out mid-search. Once enabled, your account automatically purchases additional credits whenever your balance drops below a threshold you choose, charging your saved card and adding the purchase to your invoices.
How to enable Automatic Top-up
Go to Settings → Billing.
Find the Automatic top-up section and toggle it on.
A configuration window will open with the following fields:
When balance falls below, the credit threshold that triggers a top-up. As soon as your balance drops to this number, a top-up is purchased automatically at your standard per-credit rate (with any subscriber discount applied). If your balance is still below the threshold after a top-up, another purchase is triggered.
Add: the number of credits added with each top-up.
Spending limit: a dollar cap on automatic top-up purchases only (it does not limit your overall credit usage). You can track it over one of three periods: Monthly, Yearly, or Total.
Click Save Changes. Automatic Top-up takes effect immediately.
Tracking your spending limit
The Billing page shows how much of your spending limit has been used in the current period, for example, "$X of $Y used this month", with a progress bar that updates as each successful top-up goes through.
Only successful automatic top-ups count toward this limit. Manual credit purchases, and your regular credit usage/consumption, are tracked separately and don't affect it.
What happens if a top-up would exceed your spending limit
If a scheduled top-up would push your spend past the cap you've set, the purchase is blocked entirely, there's no partial top-up. You'll get an in-app notice that Automatic Top-up has paused. What happens next depends on the period you chose:
Spending limit period | What happens after pausing |
Monthly | Top-ups resume automatically when the month resets, or sooner if you raise the limit. |
Yearly | Top-ups resume automatically when the year resets, or sooner if you raise the limit. |
Total | Top-ups stay paused indefinitely — this option has no reset, so you'll need to raise the limit manually to resume. |
If a top-up payment fails
If a charge for a top-up fails, Automatic Top-up is automatically disabled, and you'll be notified with the reason for the failure. You can review the issue and re-enable Automatic Top-up once it's resolved.
