Notify · Activation
Sends a notification when records reach this step, so your team hears about matches as they happen — either in Slack or to specific teammates inside Ocean.
When to use it
Use it to alert your team — a hot account matched, a deal closed and a play kicked off, a run finished. Often paired with Summarize run to send a run summary.
What it does
When a record reaches this step, it sends your message to the destination you choose. Type @ to build the message from record fields, so each alert carries real detail.
Configure it
Destination — Slack to post to a channel, or In-platform to notify specific teammates inside Ocean.
Channel — the Slack channel to post to (Slack destination).
Recipients — the org members to notify (in-platform destination).
Message — the text to send. Use
@to insert fields, like "New match: @Company domain — @Fit score". See Reference earlier steps with @-mentions. You can also include the run's own ID with{{run:run_id}}, which is handy for tying an alert back to a specific run in the Runs tab.
Cost
No credit cost. See Credits in workflows.
Gotchas
For the Slack destination, connect Slack first in Settings → Integrations. See Connect your tools. The in-platform destination needs no integration — just pick recipients.
By default this sends once per record. To send a single summary instead, put a Summarize run step before it and reference its roll-ups.
If this step failing shouldn't stop the record, turn on Continue on failure. See Troubleshooting workflows.
