How We Match Your CRM Contacts

Learn how Ocean.io can identify contacts from your CRM that will help you prevent duplicates

Updated over a week ago

Integrating Ocean.io with your CRM brings many benefits, such as avoiding duplicates upon exporting. But how do we actually understand what data you already have in your CRM and how can you help our system identify these companies and contacts? That's what we'll explain here.

Storing of your data

When you connect your CRM with Ocean.io, we pull in your company, contact and deal data in a special secured and isolated database, just for you. In this database, our system works some magic to figure out who the people are that you already know, and matches them with the contacts we have in Ocean.io.

Unique identifiers

In order to match contacts, we need a "unique identifier". Something that is unique for that particular contact, that is not shared with other contacts. A full name, for instance, could be shared among thousands of people. For that reason, we look specifically at:

  • LinkedIn URL

  • Contact email

Optimize our match rate

To increase the likeliness that we can match your contact in our database, we highly recommend to map the LinkedIn URL of the contact in the CRM integrations settings.

Additionally, making sure that each contact in your CRM has both fields filled out will help Ocean.io's matching rate tremendously.

Sharing your contact data

If you're wondering whether we share your contact data with others, the answer is simple: Absolutely not. The only place where this is stored, is in a database secured and isolated, just for you. The data is solely used so that we can identify in your Ocean.io account which contacts and their data you already have, so you can work smoothly with our integration.
